Student life

With a small size of around 800 students, Heythrop has a lively, passionate, close-knit community of students and staff, made up of people from different backgrounds, cultures, ages and opinions.

Academic quality and support

Between the small class sizes, one-to-one tutorials with lecturers, a renowned specialist subject library and leading academics, you can be assured that you will receive a high-quality education at Heythrop. But we want you to succeed beyond the classroom walls, so we provide a range of academic support and resources for you to use to further your studies and your career.

Dynamic student community

Outside of studying Heythrop also has a dynamic student community. Around campus are relaxing areas for students to study or meet up with friends. There are four common rooms maintained by the Heythrop Student Union (HSU) and the HSU also organises and promotes a variety of social events throughout the year, ending with a big celebration at the HSU Summer Ball.

University of London Union

Heythrop students also have access to the University of London union (ULU) which offers a wealth of services including sports facilities, bars, restaurants, clubs, academic support, welfare services and career advice. We also have access to nearby Imperial College's state of the art gym and sporting facilities.

Spiritual growth and support

Heythrop promotes a life of prayer and spiritual growth among all its members. We celebrate the Roman Catholic Eucharist every day in Maria Assumpta chapel. Each week a team of students prepare a college Eucharist, and each term we hold an ecumenical service. Our Chaplaincy team also run retreats and spiritual direction. All students also have access to the nearby West London Chaplaincy, More House, with its excellent bar facilities. We have an Islamic Society and a Philosophical Society which debate across a broad spectrum of belief and opinion.
